Accessibility at higarden
We believe the outdoors belongs to everyone. That includes the digital “garden” where you discover, learn about, and buy our gear. We’re committed to making our website and mobile experiences usable by as many people as possible and to continuously improving accessibility over time. Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level and to follow applicable guidance under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). (W3C, ADA.gov)
Need help right now?
If you have trouble using any part of our site, we’ll get you what you need through an accessible method.
-
Email: hi@gethigarden.com We’ll work with you to provide product information, place an order, or complete another task in a way that works for you, consistent with applicable law. (If you prefer not to call or email, we’re happy to coordinate another method.)
What we’re aiming for
We design and build with WCAG’s four principles—perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust—as our north star. In practice, that means we strive to ensure: (W3C)
-
Clear color contrast and scalable text.
-
Keyboard-only navigation that doesn’t trap focus.
-
Descriptive alt text for meaningful images and decorative images marked appropriately.
-
Forms that have labels, clear instructions, and helpful error messages.
-
Links and controls with clear purpose and visible focus states.
-
Captioning or transcripts for multimedia where applicable.
We treat accessibility as a living practice. As standards evolve (e.g., updates from WCAG 2.1 to 2.2), we review our site and prioritize improvements. (W3C)
How we’re working
-
Ongoing testing. We use manual checks (including keyboard-only use and screen readers such as VoiceOver/NVDA) and automated tools to identify barriers.
-
Inclusive content. We write and format content to be clear, concise, and structured for assistive technologies.
-
Team training. Our team receives guidance on accessible design and content practices.
-
Continuous improvement. We track reported issues, fix critical barriers quickly, and fold accessibility into our regular release cycle.
Third-party content and platforms
Some experiences (for example, embedded videos, social media widgets, or payment tools) are provided by third parties. While we don’t control these services, we encourage our partners to support accessibility and select vendors with strong accessibility practices. Guidance from ADA.gov informs our approach to accessibility as a small business operating online. (ADA.gov)
Tell us what’s not working
Accessibility feedback helps us make the experience better for everyone.
-
Email: access@gethigarden.com (or use hello@gethigarden.com)
-
Subject line: “Accessibility Feedback”
-
Please include: the page or feature, the assistive tech/browser you used (if any), and what happened vs. what you expected.
We’ll acknowledge your note and let you know our next steps.

Standards referenced: WCAG 2.2 AA; ADA web accessibility guidance. (W3C, ADA.gov)
If you want, I can also draft a one-page Accessibility Conformance Report (quick checklist against WCAG 2.2 AA) and a lightweight internal “how we publish accessibly” SOP for the team so this stays muscle memory as you ship new pages.
